Summary: | The invention provides transgenic plants having within their genome DNA that includes an exogenous gene encoding a polypeptide and having in its 3' untranslated region a destabilizing sequence, whereby the polypeptide is expressed at a lower level in seed of the transgenic plants relative to expression in the absence of the destabilizing sequence. Also disclosed are methods for post-transcriptionally decreasing the message stability of a gene of interest in a plant that involve adding a destabilizing sequence to the 3' untranslated region of the gene of interest. |
