An apparatus for analyzing the condition of a machine having a rotating shaft includes at least one input receiving shaft rotation dependent measurement data from a sensor surveying a measuring point of the machine, and a data processor processing condition data dependent on the measurement data. The data processor performs condition monitoring functions (CMFs). At least one of the CMFs is restricted, having disabled/enabled states, prohibiting/allowing CMF execution, respectively. The apparatus is arranged to allow limited use of the restricted CMF. At least one of the plurality of CMFs is an unrestricted function. The apparatus further includes a logger registering use of the at least one restricted CMF. The apparatus is arranged to change the state of a restricted CMF from enabled disabled when the registered use indicates that the limited use is consumed. The apparatus allows execution of the unrestricted function irrespective of amount of use.
