Summary:The present invention provides a substrate for an optical disk using a transparent plastic film having a hard-coating layer on one surface of the film and a method of producing the same. A method of producing a substrate for an optical disk comprising a substrate body for an optical disk and a hard-coating layer given on one surface of the substrate body by injection molding, said method comprising the steps of: preparing a transparent plastic film having a hard-coating layer on one surface of a plastic base film with a thickness of 500 mum or less; setting the transparent plastic film so that the hard-coating layer faces towards one mold surface in a mold for injection molding, and clamping the plastic film so that a cavity is formed between a base surface of said film and the other mold surface; and thereafter injecting a molten resin into said cavity and cooling the resin to mold a substrate body for an optical disk, and simultaneously to laminate and integrate said plastic film on a surface of the substrate body. An optical information disk using the substrate for an optical disk.
