Summary:Cosmetic preparations are comprised of a thickening effective amount of a polyether urethane thickener of the formula (I): R -(OCH2CH2)m-[CO-NH-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-NH-CO]x-(CH2CH2O)n-R (I) wherein each of R and R is a linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl group having from 6 to 22 carbon atoms, x is a number from 1 to 3 and each of m and n is a number from 10 to 100. Cosmetic formulations containing only small quantities of the thickeners of formula are easy to apply and leave the skin with a pleasant feeling and no sticky residues.
