Summary: | The present invention provides a transgenic nonhuman mammal and mammalian cells whose genomes encode a calcineurin inhibitor. The expression of the inhibitor is targeted to the forebrain and may be induced experimentally. The present invention further provides a composition of matter comprising the nucleic acid sequences encoding the inhibitor and additional sequences required for its targeted expression and regulation. In addition, the present invention provides methods for determining whether an agent inhibits long-term potentiation and/or learning and memory in a mammal. |
