Summary:The invention relates to novel nucleic acids encoding a mammalian PCAM-1 gene, and proteins encoded thereby, whose expression is increased in certain diseases, disorders, or conditions, including, but not limited to, prostate cancer. The invention further relates to methods of detecting and treating prostate cancer, comprising modulating or detecting PCAM-1 expression and/or production and activity of PCAM-1 polypeptide.
