Summary:This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) protocol using multiple beams. In some aspects, the UE may receive a first HARQ transmission from a base station (BS) via a first beam, and may transmit a HARQ feedback to the first BS. The BS may receive the HARQ feedback message and determine whether to transmit a HARQ retransmission associated with the first HARQ transmission via the first beam or via a different beam (such as a second beam) based on beam-specific conditions. The BS may provide a HARQ retransmission beam indication to the UE indicating that the HARQ retransmission will be transmitted via the second beam. The BS may transmit the HARQ retransmission via the second beam. The UE may receive the HARQ retransmission associated with the first HARQ transmission via the second beam.
