Summary:A projection display system, including light emitting device, light splitting device, first, second and third light modulators. The light emitting device emits first light and second light in time sequence. The light splitting device splits the first and second light into first and second wavelength range light along first and second optical paths, respectively, and guides part of the second light along the first optical path. The first and second light modulators modulate the light along the first and second optical paths, respectively; the light modulated by the first and second light modulators is combined to obtain third light along third optical path. The third light modulator is in optical path between the light emitting device and the light splitting device and modulates the first and second light from the light emitting device; or the third light modulator is in the third optical path and modulates the third light.
