The gas burner includes a first mixing chamber for mixing combustion gas with primary air, a second mixing chamber, separate from the first mixing chamber, for mixing combustion gas with primary air, at least one first primary air opening for supplying primary air to the first mixing chamber, and at least one second primary air opening for supplying primary air to the second mixing chamber. The at least one first primary air opening is arranged below the hob plate and the at least one second primary air opening is arranged above the hob plate.
