Summary:Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may detect a trigger for transmitting a buffer status report (BSR). The UE may transmit, to a base station, a long BSR for a single logical channel group (LCG) with data to be transmitted based at least in part on at least one of a determination that a current buffer size for the single LCG is greater than a maximum buffer size indication in a short BSR or a determination that a current achievable uplink throughput using the short BSR is less than a configured uplink throughput. Numerous other aspects are described.
