Summary:A compactor can optionally include a steering system configured to direct the movement of the compactor, a temperature sensor configured to generate data indicative of a temperature of a material that forms a surface of the compacting area, and a controller coupled to the machine and communicatively coupled to the temperature sensor. The controller can be configured to: receive data indicative of the temperature of the material from the temperature sensor, determine if the temperature exceeds a first threshold temperature, and if the temperature of the compactor exceeds the first threshold temperature, control the steering system to limit a turning angle to a predetermined value such that a turning radius of the compactor is increased.
