The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device capable of preventing asymmetrical accumulation of ionic impurities on a display panel. The liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate and a second substrate overlapping and spaced apart from each other; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules; a first alignment layer positioned between the first substrate and the liquid crystal layer; and a second alignment layer positioned between the second substrate and the liquid crystal layer, wherein the first alignment layer includes at least one of a compound represented by chemical formula 1 and a compound represented by chemical formula 2.
