Summary:A method of employing an assembly containing a shelf-stable formulation for decontaminating skin exposed to nerve agents in a package forming a first chamber and a second chamber separated by a barrier with water located in the first chamber and a dry sponge and diacetylmonoxime or derivatives thereof, located in the second chamber, wherein the diacetylmonoxime is distributed within the sponge, the method comprising opening the barrier between the first and second chambers, shaking the package to move the water into sponge until the sponge is wet, tearing open the package, removing the sponge and wiping the sponge on skin. Preferably polyethylene glycol is distributed in the sponge and wiping the sponge on the skin leaves a mixture of diacetylmonoxime and polyethylene glycol on the skin.
