Summary:A method of promoting more efficient use of a resource includes acquiring values associated with consumption of a resource by an entity at a place (for example, a building, a floor, or a wing of a building). A normalization of the values may be performed. While the resource is being consumed at the place, comparisons based on the normalized values associated with consumption of the resource at the place and one or more other values associated with consumption of the resource are displayed to one or more persons of the entity. In some cases, consumption of the entity is compared with consumption by one or more other entities (for example, in a graph comparing one company's consumption for the week with that of another company.)
