Summary: | The method for estimating the atherogenic potential of the blood comprises the collection of the blood, the separation of the serum, the layering of the saline solution, the centrifugation, the removal of the serum beneath the saline layer, the addition of the precipitate, the measurement of the optical density of the mixture, the centrifugation, the decantation of the supernatant, the preparation of the total lipoprotein fraction, and calculation of the results. Phenyl hydrazones are assessed in lipoproteins of low and ultra-low density. The optical density is measured spectrophotometrically. The results are expressed as the extinction units per optical density of lipoproteins of low and ultra-low density. |
