Summary:The method for cooling of uninterruptedly-casted billet includes water supply in the first area of cooling through the round-flamed nozzles on entire perimeter of billet and supply of water-air mixture through the flat-flamed nozzles to the wide faces of billet in the next areas of cooling. In the area of the first roller section (second area of repeated cooling) to the facets of billet is supplied the water-air mixture through the flat-flamed nozzles. In this case the volumetric flow rate of water W in water-air mixture supplied to the facets of billet is connected with the speed of pouring V by following relationship: for crack-sensitive qualities of steels W = V + (0.15...0.35) m3/h. and for other carbon and low-alloyed qualities of steels: W = V + (0.2...0.55) m3/h.
