The invention also extends to microorganisms adapted to conduct the steps of the process. Винахід стосується способу виробництва метакрилової кислоти та/або її похідних, який включає наступні стадії: (a) біологічного перетворення ізобутирилу-СоА в метакриліл-СоА за рахунок дії оксидази; та (b) перетворення метакриліл-СоА в метакрилову кислоту та/або її похідні. Винахід також поширюється на мікроорганізми, пристосовані для проведення стадій способу.
