The invention discloses an electrolyte and a manufacturing method thereof. The electrolyte comprises a high polymer material, a lithium salt, an organic solvent, a plasticizer, an ionic solution and an auxiliary material which are mixed to form a colloidal state, and the electrolyte comprises the following components in percentage by weight: 20-45% of high polymer material, 2-20% of lithium salt, 10-30% of organic solvent, 10-30% of plasticizer, 1-2% of ionic solution and 1-2% of auxiliary material. The colloidal electrolyte is high in cohesive mechanical property and low in fluidity, the ionic conductivity of the colloidal electrolyte is obviously improved compared with that of a solid electrolyte, and the characteristics that the ionic conductivity is high, a spacer is not needed, and glass or plastic can be adhered are achieved. The liquid leakage is not caused by the high safety, and meanwhile, the high adhesion, the high light transmittance and the high conductivity are realized.
