Summary:A method of whitening a yellowed silver-containing fabric is provided. First, a yellowed silver-containing fabric is provided. Thereafter, the silver-containing fabric is rinsed with a whitening agent at least once. The whitening agent of the invention includes a nitrogen-containing polymer, a phosphor-containing polymer or a nitrogen-phosphor-containing polymer, rather than a fluorescent brightener or a blue whitening pigment. A method to avoid yellowing of a silver-containing fabric is also provided.
