Summary:Preparation of a catalyst consisting of a carrier body and a catalytic active mass, which is applied on the surface of the carrier body, comprises attaching one of the active mass to the surface of the carrier body with the help of a binding agent, where the active mass is a finely divided mixture of: at least an element of molybdenum and vanadium containing finely divided multielement oxides; and at least a finely divided substance comprising oxide of molybdenum or its compound, which forms its oxide under the effect of increased temperature and molecular oxygen. An independent claim is included for a catalyst, obtained by the above process.
