Summary:The present invention relates to an optical retarder. More particularly, the optical retarder of the present invention comprises: a base substrate; a curable resin pattern layer made of a curable resin coated on the base substrate, and comprising a pattern in which first grooves and second grooves having different depths are alternately formed; and a liquid crystal material pattern layer having a first liquid crystal layer and a second liquid crystal layer respectively consisting of curable liquid crystal materials in the first grooves and second grooves of the curable resin pattern layer, wherein the first liquid crystal layer and the second crystal layer retard optical phases differently from each other. The patterned optical retarder of the present invention is configured to retard optical phases in different ways, and therefore can be manufactured using fewer optical masks and without any additional etching process.
