A manually operated bicycle front derailleur assembly (12) includes a linkage assembly (42), a lever member (160) and a connecting link (162). The linkage assembly (42) is supported to a fixing member (40) and includes an inner link (82) pivotally coupled to the fixing member (40) at a first pivot point (A1), an extension arm (106) extending from proximate the first pivot point (A1), an outer link (84) pivotally coupled to the fixing member (40) at a second pivot point (A2), and a chain guide (44) pivotally coupled to the inner and outer links (82, 84) to move between an inner shift position and an outer shift position. The lever member (160) is pivotally supported relative to the fixing member (40) and the bicycle frame (20) spaced apart from the first and second pivot points (A1, A2). The connecting link (162) operatively connects the lever member (160) to the extension arm (106) such that the linkage assembly (42) moves in response to movement of the lever member (160).
