Summary:Embodiments of a network element and method of establishing an internet-protocol communications session between a first device and a second device and generally described herein. In some embodiments, the network element is configured to receive a request from the first device to invite the second device to participate in an IP communications session. The second device may be identified in the request by a network identifier. The network element may relate the network identifier to a mobile IP (MIP) address of the second device and a second IP address. The network element may send an invitation to the MIP address of the second device. The invitation may include a MIP address of the first device and a first IP address. The first device establishes an IP connection for an IP communications session with the second device using the MIP address of the second device and the second IP address.
