Summary:Misunderstanding is not caused among users such that the user misconstrues a special digit character of barcode data which is not directly input by the user as an input character or misconstrues the input character as the special digit character. In the invention, the input character string is displayed in a first display area and information on the special digit character is displayed in a second display area. At this point, it is preferable to notify the user that a position of a cursor in the first display area is located at the position of the special digit character by displaying the information displayed in the second display area in a mode which is different from the display mode of other cursor positions.
