Summary:The invention provides a car body in simple structure to secure the safety of a passenger in the case of a side collision. This car body structure includes: a center pillar 5 extended in the vertical direction of the car body; and a side sill 4 connected to the lower end of the center pillar 5 and extended in the longitudinal direction of the car body so that a side sill reinforcement 6 and a side sill inner 7 are flange-joined to form a closed section, wherein upper edge flange parts 8, 10 are joined so that a step part 21 formed at the lower end of an upper edge flange part 8 of the side sill reinforcement is disposed on the lower side in the vertical direction of the car body than a step part 23 formed at the lower end of the upper edge flange part 10 of the side sill inner 7.
