Summary:The invention provides a method of intelligently detecting the position of a scene change in a video frame sequence and a surveillance system using this method. The method includes the following steps. First, an image representing an object in at least one video frame of the video frame sequence is chosen. Data are then generated representing the information of the image in each video frame. Next, the data are processed to locate visual changes in the information between frames. Finally, the frame position of the visual changes is identified, so as to identify the frame position of likely scene changes.
