This invention provides a data processing system comprising a plurality of functional modules, a power control module and a plurality of predetermined power profiles. The power control module is used for controlling on/off of power supply for the functional modules. The plurality of predetermined power profiles are corresponding to a plurality of power control commands. When a predetermined power profile is chosen from the predetermined power profiles, send the corresponding predetermined power control command to the power control module. According to the corresponding predetermined power control command, the power control module will selectively control the functional modules power on/off.
