Summary:The invention relates to a hub for bicycles and similar conveyances having a hub axle with a hub shell arranged concentrically thereto, in which a bearing device comprising at least two bearings is arranged between said hub axle and said hub shell. A rotator is arranged on said hub axle to receive at least one gear wheel, and a freewheel device is arranged between said rotator and said hub shell and having two toothed washers, their teeth surfaces pressed together by means of a pretensioning device. Said toothed washers are arranged in planes essentially concentric to said hub axle, said planes aligned vertical to said hub axle. The toothed washers are retained floating or mounted, so that a tilting of said toothed washers relative to said hub axle is possible.
