A kind of desalting apparatus using solar energy and method for operating such process which comprises a solar heat collector 12 employing solar energy to heat the thermal medium 13; the heat exchanger 92 employing the heat exchange between the said thermal medium and original water 62 in the evaporation tank to generate steam in the evaporation tank and cooperate with the evaporation tank; the condenser 98 for accepting the steam 63 in the evaporation tank to conduct heat exchange with the original water in original water tank 72 to become distilled water after cooling and cooperating with the original water tank; the distilled water tank for storing distilled water; the vacuum device for forcing the pressure reduction of exhaust in the evaporation tank generated by the stream in the evaporation tank; and the original water supply for supplying original water into the evaporation tank. When there are multiple evaporation tanks 60, the condenser allocated for cooperating with the evaporation tank receives the steam 63 in the previous evaporation tank, and use the original water of later evaporation tanks to cool and to create the distilled water; and then, heat the original water in the latter evaporation tanks to become steam.
