The present invention provides an absorbent article including an indicator enabling detection of a change in specific gravity of urine, the indicator having increased visibility and responsiveness. An absorbent article according to the present invention comprises a top sheet layer, an absorbent layer, an indicator layer, and a leak-proof layer in the stated order. The absorbent layer includes an absorbent core layer and a core wrap layer covering at least the leak-proof layer side of the absorbent core layer. The indicator layer is adjusted to an alkaline exterior color when in an initial state prior to coming into contact with urine, is changeable, when in contact with urine, to a color corresponding to the specific gravity of the urine, is at least partly bonded directly to the core wrap layer and the leak-proof layer, and is disposed therebetween.
