Summary:A maximum power point tracking method of a photovoltaic apparatus utilizes particle swarm optimization (PSO) to track the maximum output power. An iteration is performed according to a sequence number of the current iteration. A weight is computed by using its upper limit and lower limit and a first random value. A cognition learning factor is computed by using its upper limit and lower limit and a second random value. A social learning factor is computed by using its upper limit and lower limit, a total number of the iteration and the sequence number. The position and velocity of the particles are updated by using both factors, the weight, the best cognition position and the best social position. When the sequence number of the current iteration reaches the total number, the best social position corresponds to the duty cycle of the control signal corresponding to the maximum output power.
