Summary:In a metal fiber compact 40 of this invention, the ratio of the existence rate of metal fibers in a second cross section orthogonal to a first cross section to the existence rate of metal fibers in the first cross section having a value within the range of 0.85 to 1.15. A method for manufacturing the metal fiber compact 40 according to the present invention includes a step of accumulating a plurality of metal short fibers 30 on a receiving unit, and a step of producing the metal fiber compact 40 by sintering a plurality of metal short fibers 30 accumulated on the receiving unit.
