A method for purifying a nonaqueous solvent, including a pretreatment step of removing moisture from an ion exchange resin by passing a nonaqueous solvent for conducting a dewatering treatment through a packed bed of the ion exchange resin that has yet to undergo dewatering treatment, and a purification step of purifying a nonaqueous solvent to be purified by passing the nonaqueous solvent to be purified through the packed bed of the ion exchange resin that has been dewatered in the pretreatment step, wherein the harmonic mean diameter of the ion exchange resin is within a range from 0.20 to 0.50 mm. According to the invention, a method for purifying a nonaqueous solvent that includes a pretreatment step of removing moisture from an ion exchange resin containing moisture by passing a nonaqueous solvent for conducting a dewatering treatment through the ion exchange resin can be provided that uses only a small amount of the nonaqueous solvent for conducting the dewatering treatment in the pretreatment step.
