The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel composition being able to give an improvement of athletic performance. The present invention provides a composition for improving athletic performance by comprising linseed lignans as the active ingredient. The athletic performance improvement comprises at least one action selected from body force improvement, anti-fatigue, and fatigue feeling decrease. Also, provided is a proliferating composition for Bacteriodes niformis in the intestine by comprising linseed lignans as the active ingredient. In the present invention, linseed lignans is preferable administered in an amount of 0.01 mg/kg body weight to 200 mg/kg body weight per day, and is preferably administered at least 7 days.
