An additive for a hydraulic composition, said additive including a copolymer (A) that has a structure derived from a vinyl monomer including a constituent unit (1) and a constituent unit (2), additionally has a structure derived from a hydrophobic chain transfer agent including a sulfur atom, and has a mass-average molecular weight in terms of polyethylene glycol of 100000 to 2000000 as measured by gel permeation chromatography.
