This invention provides a system and a method of a proactive multi-path routing with a predictive mechanism comprising: a plurality of sub-networks; and a controller connected to the plurality of sub-networks through a plurality of switches. The controller monitors traffic of the plurality of sub-networks to other sub-networks at the egress switch of the plurality of sub-networks, and includes a traffic statistics and prediction module, a path calculation and selection module, and a multi-path routing module.
