Disclosed is a beacon based vending machine system operation method. The vending machine system comprises a vending machine and at least one mobile device. The operation method comprises: the vending machine executing merchandise selection; the vending machine executing beacon payment selection; a vending machine beacon receiving/transmitting module of the vending machine determining if the mobile device is a payment available device; if yes, the vending machine beacon receiving/transmitting module releasing a beacon payment function of a beacon APP of the payment available device; and the payment available device executing the beacon payment function of the beacon APP. As such, a secure, accurate, and simplified transaction process can be achieved to thereby enhance the convenience of operation by the user and shorten the time necessary for consumer transaction.
