Summary:Universal arbors (10) mountable on tapered fishing rod blanks (30) as non-degradable self-centering collars (12) to which a reel seat (34) may be mounted. The inventive cylinder-shaped arbor (10) comprises a flexible thermoplastic resin formed as an outer cylinder (12), closed at one end with an integral end wall (18) or separate disc/washer (48), which includes a cylindrical hole (16) to receive a rod blank (30). The annulus between the cylinder inner wall (24) and the hole margin includes curved or straight centering fins (20) secured to the cylinder inner wall (24) that are free to flex (46). Flexing of the centering fins permits accommodating a wide range of blank tapers (30) at the proper place of location of a reel seat (34) making the arbor universal and positionally forgiving. Once the arbor is located on the blank and oriented properly, the cylinder is filled with a fluid epoxy resin (36), which when cured, permanently secures the arbor (10) to the blank (30) and to the reel seat tube (34).
