Summary:An apparatus and method for detecting azimuth of a heat source includes a preparing step and a detecting step, which is implemented when an external heat source enters into a scanning range of an infrared sensing apparatus. The preparing step includes: detecting a unit period (Tc) by rotating a positioning portion of the infrared sensing apparatus with one circle, and aligning the positioning portion with an aligning member of the infrared sensing apparatus. The detecting step includes: driving the positioning portion to rotate and implementing the following procedures to detect the position of the external heat source. The position of the aligning member defines an initial azimuthal position.
