Summary:A method for growing a colored oxide film during micro-arc oxidation process, comprises steps of: providing a high-voltage power supply, an electrolytic cell, and an alkaline electrolyte accommodated in the electrolytic cell; providing a light metal object to be placed in the alkaline electrolyte and used as an anode of the electrolytic cell for being connected with a positive pole of the high-voltage power supply; preparing an aqueous sol of color to be added into the alkaline electrolyte, wherein the aqueous sol of color is an organic-dye emulsion or inorganic pigment colloid; and applying a voltage to the light metal object, wherein the magnitude of the voltage is sufficient to generate electric arc for growing a colored oxide film on the surface of the light metal object. Color of the colored oxide film of the present invention is incorporated with the organic dye or the inorganic pigment in the ongoing micro-arc oxidation process, therefore, no extra color processing steps need to be exercised after the
