A kind of method for preparing soil modifier, which converts a biogenic substance into a biomass carbon which can be used as a soil modifier, and includes: an analysis step capable of analyzing the cracking characteristics of the biogenic substance to determine a process parameter; a breaking step that the biogenic substance is treated by cutting or crushing into a plurality of fragments; a screening step that passes said fragments through a sieve of less than 16 MFSH; a cracking step, in association with the cracking characteristics of the analysis step for heating to crack the said fragments; a cooling step to cool the thermally cracked said fragments to produce a biomass carbon; and a collecting step that the prepared biomass carbon is collected for soil modifier. In light of cracking characteristics of biomass carbon, it can control the heating variation and shorten the reaction time, and can prepare biomass carbon which is used as a soil modifier without adding other substances.
