The present invention provides a locking/unlocking method for an electronic device. The method displays multiple character/symbol input fields and a predetermined pattern on a display unit of the electronic device. The predetermined pattern comprises multiple vertical lines, and every two adjacent vertical lines are connected to each other with multiple predetermined disabled horizontal lines. The character/symbol input fields respectively correspond to the vertical lines. A user may enter a character string in the character/symbol fields to enable at least one disabled horizontal line for generation of a locking/unlocking pattern, and rearrangement of the entered character string may be conducted according to the locking/unlocking pattern so that hash function computation can be conducted according to the rearrangement of the entered character string to generate a locking/unlocking message digest. The present invention provides a highly visualized friendly locking/unlocking interface for user and high securi
