A lateral type light guide plate including a plate body and a pattern is disclosed. The plate body is basically defined by a top surface, a bottom surface, a first lateral side wall connecting to the top and bottom surfaces, and a second lateral side wall opposite to the first side wall. The pattern is formed by many light extracting structures and located on the top or bottom surfaces. In section view, each of the light extracting structures is defined by a first tilt line near to the first lateral side wall and a second tilt line near to the second lateral side wall. The acute angles between the top or bottom surface and the first tilt lines are decreasing as long as the distances to the first lateral side wall are increasing. The acute angles between the top or bottom surface and the second tilt lines are also decreasing as long as the distances to the second lateral side wall are increasing.
