Summary:The present invention relates to a glass substrate manufacturing method and a glass substrate. The glass substrate manufacturing method can increase the production efficiency and reduce the glass substrate thermal shrinkage rate and lower unevenness of the glass substrate thermal shrinkage rate. During the manufacturing process of the glass substrate, thermal treatment of the glass substrate is performed, and the overall glass substrate is subjected to thermal treatment at a temperature 60 to 260 DEG C lower than the strain point. The overall glass substrate is cooled from the thermal treatment temperature at a first rate down to a temperature 50 to 300 DEG C lower than the thermal treatment temperature, i.e. the middle temperature, and then the overall glass substrate is cooled from the middle temperature at a second rate faster than the first rate down to the room temperature.
