Summary:A data storage system and a management method thereof are provided. The management method, adopted by a data storage device coupled to a host device through a bus, including determining a need for accessing first data storage space of the host device to access data belonging to second data storage space of the data storage device; based on the determination, requesting for a control right of data transmission by transmitting a Device Bus Master (DBM) request message via the bus to the host device, and in response to the DBM request message, detecting the bus to determine whether a first DBM acknowledgement message from the host device is received; and if the first DBM acknowledgement message is received, accessing the first data storage space of the host device.
