A means for the synthesis of indialite from serpentine and mica powder

This patent provides a means for the synthesis of indialite (Mg2A4Si5O18) from a mixture of serpentine and mica powder. In this patent, the serpentine is ground to finer than 400 mesh sieve (38 [mu]m), and is mixed with mica powder (a mixture of sericite and pyrophyllite of sizes smaller than 38 [mu...

Summary:This patent provides a means for the synthesis of indialite (Mg2A4Si5O18) from a mixture of serpentine and mica powder. In this patent, the serpentine is ground to finer than 400 mesh sieve (38 [mu]m), and is mixed with mica powder (a mixture of sericite and pyrophyllite of sizes smaller than 38 [mu]m). The mass ratio of these two raw materials is from 1:1.4 to 1:4.5. Under atmospheric conditions, the mixture is calcined at 1200 DEG C to 1400 DEG C for 1 to 8 hours and indialite can be synthesized.
