Summary:A polycarbonate composition comprises terminal hydroxy-containing polycarbonate and 0.007 to 0.09 weight percentage of halogen-containing alkali-metal tungsten oxide of formula (I), MxWO3-yRy (I) wherein M represents alkali metal, R represents halogen, 0.001 ≤ x ≤ 1 and 0 < y ≤ 0.5. The weight averaged molecular weight of said terminal hydroxy-containing polycarbonate is from 15, 000 to 50, 000. The amount of terminal hydroxy group of said terminal hydroxy-containing polycarbonate is from 2 to 1, 000 ppm based on 100 weight percentage of said terminal hydroxy-containing polycarbonate. A heat shielding material, made from said polycarbonate composition, has better haze value, and the total of visible light transmission and infrared light shielding ratio of said heat shielding material is more than 45 times the value of weight percentage of said halogen-containing alkali-metal tungsten oxide of formula (I) and plus 134.
