The present invention provides a device for detecting a shaft and a method therefor. The shaft includes a tapered end and a flat end. The device for detecting the shaft includes: a base having a first insertion hole along an axial direction, the first insert hole having a tapered bottom part; a cover plate disposed opposite to the base, the cover plate having a second insertion hole which is along the axial direction and is disposed opposite to the first insertion hole, the second insertion hole having a fixing block, the block corresponding to an initial position, the shaft disposed between the base and the cover plate; and an alarm device disposed on the fixing block, the alarm device output an alarm signal when the fixing block is detected to be shifted from the initial position along the axial direction. The device for detecting the shaft and the method therefor are simple and convenient. Compared with the artificial detection, the present invention is capable of increasing detection accuracy and efficien
