Summary:An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a plurality of contacts, a metal shell enclosing the housing to form a mating opening and a mounting plate covering the metal shell. The housing has a base portion having a retaining groove and a tongue extending forwardly from the base portion. The mounting plate includes a pressing plate, a vertical tab extending from a rear edge of the pressing plate and fastened in the retaining groove and at least a pressing arm extending downwardly through the metal shell into the mating opening. When the electrical connector mates with a mating connector, the pressing plate is upwardly forced and the mounting plate deflects upwardly and brings the pressing arm to leave the mating opening.
