Summary:A packaging system for an acidic product and a method for adding the acid product to a water system, wherein the packaging system has a multi-layer packaging film with a water-soluble outer layer and an inner layer comprising a pH-sensitive polymer. The inner layer is stable at the pH of the acidic product and dissolves when exposed to a pH greater than dissolution pH of the inner layer, the dissolution pH being greater than the pH of the acidic product. In one example, the dissolution pH of the inner layer is between 5 to 8. When the pH of the water system reaches the dissolution pH, the product is released to the water system.
